Yovanis Caisés graduated from the Professional School of Arts in Holguín in 1994. He began as a restorer for Holguín’s cathedral before fully focusing on painting. His early works were figurative, inspired by surreal dreamscapes. A pivotal visit to New York transformed his style toward abstract expressionism, incorporating themes of human-technology connection, emotional abstraction, and modern allegory. He draws inspiration from classical masters like Picasso and European vanguards, as well as Cuban artists such as Wifredo Lam, Mariano Rodríguez, and Antonia Eiriz.
Caisés has participated in solo and group exhibitions across Cuba, Puerto Rico, the U.S., Germany, and France.
His works are held in private collections in the U.S., Cuba, Canada, Mexico, and more.
