About Us

Cuba Art NY (CANY) is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to promoting the work of contemporary Cuban-born artists living outside of Cuba. Founded in 2001 by a small group of art enthusiasts, CANY has remained a volunteer-driven organization; its Board of Directors and advisors serve entirely on a voluntary basis.

Since its founding, CANY has organized numerous highly successful group and solo exhibitions, primarily in high-end galleries in New York’s Chelsea district. These exhibitions have benefited artists by providing professional visibility and opportunities for sales, while all net exhibition revenues have been reinvested to advance CANY’s mission. These efforts include organizing lectures at galleries and universities, maintaining a blog dedicated to Cuban art produced outside the island, hosting social gatherings for collectors, facilitating connections between artists and established galleries, awarding grants for large-scale projects, and assisting artists with professional tools such as portfolios and websites pages.

In 2020, CANY expanded its mission by launching the CANY Online Gallery, extending its support for Cuban artists to a global audience.
